Cost of an LS7 swap?

Does anyone know how much it would cost to do an LS7 swap into an LT1 car? Not that I would ever be able to afford such a swap, just wondering.

Re: Cost of an LS7 swap?

Part of me wanted to do this until I read:

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Dealer Price: $11,895.00 MSRP: $16,995.00
LS7 crate engine (P/N 17802397) includes:
intake manifold with injectors
injector wiring harness
fuel rails
throttle body
dry sump oil pan
exhaust manifolds
flywheel & clutch
harmonic dampener
water pump and pulley
coil packs, spark plugs and wires
engine sensors
LS7 crate engine does not include:
dry sump oil lines
dry sump tank
engine beauty cover
engine processor
air filter/air box
accessories or accessory drive

I just could never justafy(sp?) spending that much for the motor.

especially for half the cost you can go FI and a new lower end and have change left for other mods and well excede the ls7.

Re: Cost of an LS7 swap?

the ls7 is a race motor and if you add up what you get it is a great buy, but on the other hand most people can't afford to spend 12k for a motor and on top of that about 4k to do the swap. LS7 is a swap for the few but would be a great swap to do, once they get software to tune the ls7 you'll be seeing 550-600 rwhp NA ls7's driving around.

If youre doing the swap what software would you need? Tunning wouldnt be a problem unless you swap it into another a4 c6. Anyway for the price you could build the LTx and or LSx of your dreams and make more power.

well you would need some kind of turnning software if you were to add long tubes, cam, things of that sort. Also i'm pretty sure if you can afford to swap a ls7 you can afford to mod it, and i'm pretty sure a modded 427 is going to make more power then a ltx/lsx. But for most people a ltx/lsx is more then fine.

Your biggest obstacle would be figuring out how to mount it in the car because of the dry sump system.

Call up a various reputable shop thats been doing large ci LSx engines and they can tell you.. Looking off one of these shops pages, its about $18,000 for a complete turn key installation.. (include other stuff besides just the engine) and a 2 Year / 24,000 Mile Limited Engine Warranty..

Not exactly a LS7, but the end result is about the same. 42x ci LS family small block.

Re: Cost of an LS7 swap?

I think it's a good deal considering you get a great system that's ready to support A LOT of power. Hell, someone just about cracked 500 to the wheels with only long tubes. There's A LOT of potential there. You get a good fuel system, so all you really need is a strong tranny, and beefed rear.

Still out of my price range (for now) but I think it'd be a good deal
