Exclamation Correction: 6$Smooth Bellow

Guys I tried to install my 3" in-3" out Home Depot Fernco smooth bellow tonight to find the following;

The Maf side (Granatelli) fit perfect, however the throttle body side was too small. I'm going to return the 3" in-out Fernco pipe adapter (Smooth Bellow) this weekend and buy the 3" in 4" out pipe adapter this weekend, which is 4" long. I believe it will fit perfect. I looked at the SLP smooth bellow online & it appeared to have a bubble in it. Well I figure the straighter the smooth bellow the less turbulance, IMO. I'll let you know how it fits this coming Saturday, Fred

Are you saying this because that is what you did? It was 31 degrees today when I tried, but I still think a 3" in and 4" out would be better, Fred

Why not buy the right size and get less heat and stress cracks in the near future?

If you're not going to buy the SLP one, then you need to buy what's called a "Hump Hose". I bought mine from an airflow company in Portland, OR for $12. It looks exactly like the SLP hose and just needs to have a little length trimmed from the ends.

Hmm ... just checked, and the price has gone up since I bought mine. You'll want the 3.5" - 3.5" hump hose. I tried the 3.5 - 4 and it was too big. The 3.5 will slide onto the TB with minimal effort. If I had it to do again, I would probably go with a 3.0 - 3.5 hump hose as this stuff is soft enough to stretch the 3.0 to fit the MAF.

Here's the Link

Does anyone know what the SLP smooth bellow is made of? From the majority of the pictures it looks like some kind of soft foamy thing or something.

So 4" would be to big on 1 side. I was considering doing this mod also and would prefer to do it Fred's way. Home Dopot. Just gotta get the right sizes. Sounds like 3"-3 1/2" should do it.

Thanks a lot Everyone! You helped me pick one out. I decided to go with the SLP smooth bellows! It was on sale at TSP for $43.99. Not too shabby. Anyways Thanks all for this thread.

$43!!!! I'm sorry but that is too much money for that thing! There really not that much of a difference between the SLP and something you can get at a hardware store for $4. If it was holding water or other vital fluids I might get a expensive part, but all it does is pass air. If you get the $12 from home depot, the item should last just as long as the slp version with vinyl/silicone/rubber protectant such as aerospace protectant.

with the hump hose/SLP design, is the rib on the outside or inside too? I realize it absorbs enine movement with is important, but i'm curious if the inside is smooth or dips with hump?
