Question cold morning strange noise

the last three mornings (aprox 30 deg) for the first 30 seconds or so my car makes this whistling/howling noise. It doesnt seem to be coming from the belts. And it doesnt do it any other time even if the car has sat all day. whats the deal?

Mine does this too, if you disconnect it--it will throw codes won't it? Is it as simple as pulling a wire? I've got a scanner, so I can check the codes. If it throws a constant SES light I'd have to check the codes all the time, in case something else went wrong.
