ive had the same ticking in my car since the day i got it (brand new) i think it comes from the rear end. i read on this site before that it has something to do with the gears not being set up properly from the factory. i haven't taken my car in yet but i will be as the warrenty is up in august.

I have noticed the same thing and also a clunking noise once in a while be has been that way since I got it also, until it blows up I am not going to give it much thought. Doesn't seem to affect the car.

Same thing here. I even had the pinion seal replaced under warranty a month ago and the dealership didn't say anything about gears going bad. So I don't think it's a big deal. Just drive faster. hehehe

My car did the same thing when I picked it up last year (used 99). Found out it is a common problem with the Aluminum driveshaft on our cars. They said it doesn't cause any problems with the car now or in the future, but since I am friends with my local Chevy dealership, they said they would replace it under warrenty, but to expect it to maybe happen again. Well sure enough it fixed the problem for about 8 months, and it went back to making the noise again. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have time to do it!!!

Is it the drive shaft itself? Trying to think why that would cause it or at least what part of it. U-joint maybe? I wouldn't mind tinkering around with it and quiet the issue.
