clanking noise at the rear???

hey guys, finally broke down (literally my talon did) and bought an 00 trans am with the ws6 package. not as fast as the talon but still can move. anyway, there is a noise everytime i shift coming from the back end of the car(like when i put it into 1st). also tonight i had to get outta the way of someone on the highway and missed 3rd because of such a long throw (stock hurst shifter) so i was wondering which shifter would be better than the stock (actually best over all) in the shorter shifts area? my main ? was really the rear end noise when i'm sitting at the light and move it into 1st or 2nd.

thank you,

mike- proud owner of a white 00' trans am ws-6

bm ripper shifter is the best

i had the pro 5.0 besides the fact that it is loud as hell the shaft comes loose and once totally came off and i had to quickly take the shifting boot off to get it out of gear....that sucked

another B&M ripper here...love it!!

as far as the noise...if it sounds like the tranny is gonna drop out on to the street when shifting into 1st at a stop...well its normal.

if ur getting it when u shift into 2nd...u might not b letting out the clutch slow enough...ive found this to b true at low rpms.
but if u give it good gas, like about 2.5-3k rpms then shift it shouldnt make that clunking noise.

hope this helps and congrats on buying an LS1

BTW i have a 2000 also.

i have a pro 5.0..its kinda loud i might change it...how much for tha talon if its still for sale.and where are you located.

BTW if you get the shorter adaptor for the pro 5.0 it feels really wierd...i have it and 1st gear look like it is way way way too far to the right...looks like where 5th gear should be

I have the 5.0 and love it, never had any problems with it or the shifter coming loose. If your a real man and can handle the extra noise get the 5.0
