Check Your FAST 92 Bolts?

I just did a FAST 92 install and am having a problem keeping the 10 long ss bolts, that came with the intake, torqued down. I tried blue loctite, then red (per FAST's recommendation) and they still will not hold the 89in/lb torque. I called FAST and they have not heard of the problem. They said they will call some of there high volume buyers to see if they might have seen this issue. Have any of you guys with this intake checked your torque on these bolts lately? I'm thinking it has something to do with the use of stainless steel bots into the aluminum heads. This is not going to work if I have to keep re-torquing theses bolts after every drive.

First things first, did you torque them in the right sequence?

And secondly, i highly doubt they recommended 89 foot pounds of torque, 9-11lbs is more like it. Are you sure you didn't just strip the crap out of the bolts and bolt holes?

Yes, I did do the correct sequence. Three times. I shouldn't have posted 89"lbs. I changed it to 89in/lbs.

Well if it's 89 then that's too low, its supposed to be 106-110in/lbs.

FAST's instructions call for 89in/lbs and I'm pretty sure the stock bolts are the same.

I'm not aware of any issues as I've had 2 cars with FAST intakes on them, but they were the 90mm versions. Maybe the holes in your heads are stripped? Torque sequence?

That definitely should not be happening on an intake swap.

The 90's came with steel bolts. 92's have stainless steel hardware. I think this may be the issue. Holes in heads are not stripped.

Pull the intake off again and check the holes in the back, get one of the bolts and screw it all the way in and see if it goes in all the way, if it does check and see if you have any play. If there's any movement whatsoever you stripped the holes in the head, also GM calls for 106in/lbs for torque specs on the intake.

Why are you retorqueing them? Torque them to spec and forget them. I've done that with both of my LSx intakes without problem. After a few heat cycles they might be looser than the torque spec but if it ain't leakin' air then where's the problem?

I am having issues with all 10 bolts. Its highly unlikely I stripped out all 10 holes. I just looked in my GM service manual and it definitely calls for 89in/lbs of torque for the intake manifold bolts. FAST calls for 89in/lbs. Where are you getting 106in/lbs?

I got the torque specs from my local GM dealership, if they are wrong then i don't know what to tell you BUT i haven't had any problems with loose intake bolts. It's a two pass sequence, first pass is 69in/lbs and seconds pass is 106in/lbs. Another thing, i don't understand what your definition of "loose" is, are we talking hand tight or are you running a wrench on it and you just think they are loose?

Stock and FAST intake: first pass, 45in/lbs, second pass, 89in/lbs. Loose= setting torque wrench to 80in/lbs and all 10 bolts turning before wrench breaks.

hmm...

I just hand tighten mine... Dont have any issues....Can't see why your bolts keep backing off. Your putting thread lock on them and torque them down to spec....
