check engine light??
check engine light??
i was driving my 99z to san antonio from austin yesterday ( not a far trip) and it was raining pretty bad. i go to pull in a chevron and go through a big puddle. i was worried that maybe i sucked up some water in my intake but i was in neutral so the throttle body should have been closed. anyways about 3 minutes later my SES light comes on. after about 15 more miles of driving i get to my house, scan the car for any codes and i returned 3 different codes. one of them was random multiple cylinder missfire. another one was high volts or something. i forgot the other one but later i was driving and the SES light turned off and i scanned the car again and the scanner didnt return and codes. what the hell is up? thanks fellas
Re: check engine light??
i was in tampa not too long ago, and i was forced through some deep water as well. SES light came on, i pulled the codes and there was a couple...one for misfire, one for timing, and i forget the other. the codes are gone now, my guess is you (and i) just got too much stuff wet (ie. wires, opti) and it messed up some stuff momentarily. its all good now though
Re: check engine light??
i went and checked out my owners manual and it said that if you go through a deep puddle your electrical system gets wet and the SES light will come on. it also said that it should turn off on its own after a few trips. no worries
