Cam Swap Hint
Cam Swap Hint
This may have been stated before, so no intention to steal anyones "original idea" but I thought this was worth mentioning.
After doing engine work for quite some time, I got a little bold & didn't cover the bottom of the oil pan with a rag (I should know better). Well Murphys law conquered me & I dropped a cam retainer bolt..... it obviously fell in the oil pan & went straight to the sump. For all those changing cams & oil pumps, place a rolled shop towel in the pan in front of the main cap to prevent having to experience this aggravating episode. (also use a bright color so you do not forget it there) I always cover the pan tried to save a few minutes for once.
On a brighter note, if you happen to do this..... remove the oil level sensor & use a small telescopic magnet to fish the bolt out. They will at least fit out this hole in the pan.
Since this wasted 1/2 hour of my time I thought I would spend a few more minutes & relay the info to possibly save a few some grief.
Good Luck.
