Cheap Modifications
Cheap Modifications
I am just looking to make my Z28 just a tad faster, without spending too much money. What do you guys recommend I do to get the most horsepower for the money, without voiding the warranty? Thanks.
Lid and filter are everyone's first mod (usually). That's gonna set you back $150 - $200 depending on what you choose. For the filter, get a Holley PowerShot. It simply fits better.
$30 for a cutout and another $15 - $20 for welding it in place. ($170 + install for an electric cutout)
Head to www.installuniversity.com and look at their information. They list all the free mods.

Simple & cheap:
Lid
Muffler (I did the Dynomouth mod for $140, parts and professional install included.)
Free thermostat mod
Free ram air
TB bypass
Automatic fan switch
Throttle stop mod
Fernco (or similar bellows)
Good spark plugs (I am having great luck with standard Bosch platnums)
All of these mods are free or cheap, and I would consider most, if not all, warrantee safe. The fact is the law says that the dealer has to PROVE that a mod did the damage to the part you want warranteed in order to not warrantee that part. Nothing on this list would do that kind of damage.
