Change Oil light...

Well i changed my oil just under 2k mils ago, i normally change 2800-3k

it came on for a sec, then went off, then started car up again, and same thing, comes on for a good 10-20 sec then goes away...

any ideas?

is it possible that i need to change it at 2k miles?! and if not, what could make the light come on?

thanks
cory

Re: Change Oil light...

Turn the key to run but do not turn the car on. Hold the ododmeter reset switch for 12 seconds the light will blink and it should go away!

Re: Change Oil light...

That stupid light doesn't "magically" know what the condition of the oil in your engine is. Typically my car goes around ~9,000 kms (~5,500 miles) before the light comes on. I've tried sticking to a ~5,000 km / 3,000 mile oil change schedule. The "oil life monitor" is supposed to use things like engine load, operating speeds/temperatures, and determine when the oil is likely getting used up of all its value. Just reset it and stick to a schedule.

Re: Change Oil light...

You need to reset it when you change the oil. It doesn't reset itself.
