Question To change or not to change...

My wife just recently drove a 2002 345hp. SLP SS right off the showroom floor. She loves the car but hates the exhaust. She wants to install an after market muffler for a more throaty sound. Is this a wise decision? If so, what aftermarket muffler should we go after?

Thumbs up

Do the Dynomouth mod.
Mine was a whopping $140... and that was parts, shipping, and professional installation.
Sound clip in sig.

Cool wife! If you just want a cheap replacement muffler that sounds better go with a Flowmaster or Magnaflow. Flowmaster is noticeably louder while both sound good IMHO. And over time both mufflers will break in(meaning they'll sound even better).

I agree, I have the slp dual-dual on my car and it is much to quiet, however since it was an SLP installed option I really don't want to change to a different system. I to am going to slap a flowmaster on there!!!

Exclamation

If you choose between Flowmaster and Magnaflow, go with Magnaflow...
It is good to use a performance muffler, but just be aware that they do not all flow equally. The Flowmaster flows about 360 cfm for example. While Borla flows just over 900 cfm and Magnaflow flows about 1100 cfm. The DynoMax bullet used in the Dynomouth mod flows 2200+ cfm (the "+" is there because the flow machine tops out at 2200 cfm, the bullet was still flowing).

Thanks for the info, you changed my mind. I am going with magnaflow. I went to the website and I found a few local installers. I will be taking my car there on Monday to get it measured and get pricing info. Thanks alot.
