Cats ???????

I want to get mac headers and am wondering if i can get the off road y pipe without the cats. Will this mess up anything on my car. I would imagine it will be fine as long as i keep the o2 sensors. I want to just run a straight pipe out the back. Loud and free flowing. Thanks for your help. Mario

Question

While we're on the subject of cat. converters, do the factory ones flow well enough that there's no huge advantage to changing to "hi-flow" cats if I were to upgrade my exhaust system?? When I had my '81 Z, I put a set of cats on (for legality and emissions test sake ) which were supposed to be "hi-flowing", but I noticed a big loss in power..........especially the 1st time I took the car on the street and laced it....................I felt like I was towing a freight train!!! Anyway, is the difference between a hi-flow and a factory cat big enough to justify getting new cats??

All opinions appreciated.

And DreamCar@20, I agree..........you'll probably need O2 "sims".

BTW: Dave, I just spent a few minutes and fixed up my sig. It used to be 8 lines --- now I'm on 5 exactly. (I'm so proud of myself!).
