Catalyst under efficiency code?

My 01 Z28 with 12K miles threw up the SES light. Auto zone scanned it and it was - Catalyst under efficiency, left bank -

Anyone have any ideas what it is or know how to clear it? Can you clear error codes with a programmer from Predator and the like?

Sorry for my ignorance I'm new to this forum and only had my Z about 2 weeks. Thanks for any help!

the scan tool at autozone should have been able to clear it they always have cleared mine, if it's still under warranty take it to a dealer otherwise clear it see if it comes back, you may have a bad cat

Bad cat? Common for 00 and 01's to roast a cat. Bad batch from a manufacturer. Had both of mine go out before 30k. GM will replace it under your warranty. If not, it will fall under the cat's 8 year 80k mile warranty. The dealer may also replace an O2 sensor. Expect the other one to go too.

Before I even opened this thread, I knew you had a 2000 or 2001 model.

There was a batch of bad cats, usually the driver's side, in late 2000 and early 2001 productions. My '01 Z28 and WS6 were both built October 2000 and both had bad driver's side cats that threw the code you mention.

There is a service bulletin out for it and the dealer will replace it under warranty.

Thanks all for the reply! As soon as the roads clear off I'll take it to the dealer.
