cast aluminum engine?
Ditto, never heard of a "forged" block. Only forged internals (ie: crank, rods, pistons) but blocks and heads are always cast (aluminum or iron). I think because of their size & shape, and the fact that there are ports through them, there would be no way to forge them
. Could be wrong though?!

I don't think that you could forge a block and have it be functional with water ports and such. (scotty's voice) Just can't doo et captin.

Yeah they did that on a 4 banger that put out something like 2500 hp. But it didn't have any way to cool it's self at all. Solid block with everything machined out of it.

Weld it together?!
I can just envision a bunch of engine blocks all splitting apart when they're subjected to shots of nitrous and high stall dumps at the track!?
IMO, an engine would never be able to be welded together so that it's as strong as a solid casting??
