I bought a 2000 Z28 m6 about a month ago. For the past two weeks, every now and the I go to start it and it just cranks but won't start. Other times it will fire right up. Thanks in advance for any help or info you may be able to provide, Shawn

Re: Car won't start

check all your battery connections as well as you connnections on the starter. it could be there is a loose or poor connection that is tempermental about when it is gonna make a good connection.

that would be the first things to check

if the connections seem old and corroided...replace them...it takes little money and gives peace of mind.

Re: Car won't start

I had the same problem. It takes like ten tries to get it started and then when it finally starts it runs fine. Well after about a month of tring differnet things and nothing worked the problem just got worse. So here I am today it won't start at all and when it does it just sputters and dies. Having it towed tomorrow to a repair shop and they seem to think its either the injectors or the fuel pump. My advice is to get it checked out and don't waste the money on small things if your problem is the same as mine.... good luck

Fuel pump.

DO NOT run the tank past 1/4. The pumps require fuel around them to cool properly.

Re: Car won't start

What is the lock cylinder and what is the vats system. I am havin the same problem and turns out it wasn't my fuel pump the pressure was at 60psi and not falling. Turns out that there was a plastic bag stuck in my air filter that made it up to the maf and was throwing the code. But still having the same problem as before that it takes like ten tries to start then its fine. Also where do I find the wire for the lock cylinder. Any help always appriciated.

Re: Car won't start

the lock cylinder is the part where the key goes, to remove it the steering wheel has to come off, the wires are plugged in under the steering column but it is the other end that was messed up. Sorry I don't have any pics though.
