Which LT Headers should I get? HP?

I have a 2000 SS A4.. My mods are Slp lid, kn filter, smooth bellow, flowmaster exhaust. How much Hp do you think I have now? I want MORE like all of us do.. I only have around 800 bucks. What LT headers should i get? I was looking at the SLP with y-pipe on ebay jet-hot coated for about 650.. And i also want to get cat-back exhaust. I live in CALI so I got restrictions, Whats all your guys opinion? what are good LT headers and catback? Thanks

QTP's and Kooks are considered the best. Jet Hot's are the best bang for the buck. Pacesetters (new design) are also getting good reviews, Jet Hot's are coated inside and out 18g tubing and pacesetters are not coated on inside if you get the coated ones and I believe its 16g tubing. And as far as hp I think you will see just as much as another maybe a little bit more in the better ones.

What do you think about the SLP jet-hot coated with Y-Pipe?

Stay away from the SLP's, especially if u ever plan on lowering. They're great quality i'm sure but hang too low, ur gonna have to be extremely careful with those, they're gonna scratch a lot. U said u have about 800, is that the money ur lookin to spend for headers and catback or just headers. And in cali, can u get longtubes as long as u have cats, or is it only shorty headers u can use? Most brands of headers are gonna give u close to the same HP numbers, the costlier ones usually giving a little more. What are the restrictions besides having to have cats?

Im not sure what other restrictions there are but i know i need my cats.. Are pacesetters ok, like 97bblackz said some guy wants 375 shipped with y-pipe.. Is that good? And if i get those what exhaust would be good with those? Also does anybody know how hard it is to install them? I have alot of auto experiance but no welding.. I know i can have long tubes.. It dont matter but as long as i meet the requirements for smog.. Stupid smog and i have 800 for both but i can get more if i need it..

I think it was 250 shipped but i think they might already be sold. As far as if that was a good price either way it is. If they were coated that was a DAMN good price but still if they werent its good. He said the headers only had 15 miles on them so they were basicly brand new.

Might try a search.

What kind of a sound are u lookin for? and u do want coated headers right? Ur lookin at about $400 for a pair of coated headers from flowtech or pacesetter. I haven't looked for the cost of a ypipe cuz i gotta get goin, if nobody gets the average cost of those for u i'll get that when i'm back. And for the catback, average about $300 for the loudmouth, hooker, etc.

Go with the Pacesetters. Good quality and pretty thick flanges for the price. You're gonna have to spend around $500 or so for a catted Y pipe so you'll still come over budget, but not by alot. I would bet Texas Speed's Y pipe would be the best for fitment and quality. Most of the Y pipes that are made by the header companies are subpar in quality.

Actually it does matter in California ... no after market headers unless they are CARB approved .. and no long tube headers are CARB approved ...

Why? Because of the other restriction. You can only run OEM cats, in the OEM location. LTs move the cats.

The only legal headers are shorties with the stock y-pipe and cats.

So i can only get shorty headers? Are they even worth it? How hard to install?

They are easier to install than LT's, but no, they're not really worth it. You won't see more than 10 rwhp.

Yes everything must be CARB approved, meaning the company must pay a hefty fee to get their product CARB certified. There are alot of parts that would pass the sniffer test even in Cali, but the company didn't get the CARB certification because it costs so much, and the forecasted number of sales wouldn't make up for the increase in cost to market them. It's a stupid law, but then again it shouldn't be of surprise considering the new regulations just signed by Arnold and unaminously approved by the state senate about reducing CO2 emissions all in the name of supporting junk science like humans causing global warming
