Car Revving Problems

I start my car, it's idling at 1500 rpm.

I drive my car, shifting at 2000 rpm, and when I shift into neutral it goes to 2500 - 3000 rpm.

After shifting into neutral, I would put it into the next gear.

I stopped at a parking lot and let it sit idling.

After letting it sit at 2500 - 3000 rpm, it slowly goes back down to 1500 rpm.

Is there something wrong with my clutch?

What could be the possible problems?

I don't think this is your problem but couldn't hurt. The first time I took my car out for a drive I would accidentaly push in the clutch before I let off the gas which would make the engine rev in neutral. i dont do that anymore unless I'm shifting down to get more power to go up a hill or something like that.

That idling speed it not good. Start the engine and give it some good revs by opening the throttle body under the hood. See if you can close it anymore. Also, maybe you might want to take off the lid and MAF and look into the TB to see if it is closing all the way. Check the idle screw and if it still isn't right, take it to a dealer.

KmartZ,first why Kmart?,Could be the TPS,If it were me I'd shut down when the high idles are occuring(w/o messing w/ throttle or anything) and get a volt reading to see if its .5 if not and the thottle body isnt obsructed. Then its bad sould start at .5 closed and slowly rise to 5 volts a WOT.
Or maybe a intake leak?
This reminds me of when I got my first Camaro(the 98) I had this problem only it was the damn floor mat wedged the gas pedal at WOT.I was wtf, about 12 secs of red lining, after goin to nuetral cuz the car kept accelerating as I was trying to brake geez that ticked me off, the mat is on the shelf now

This looks like a throttle body issue. You might have a kink in the throttle cable, but it sounds like a sensor issue.
