Car Noises (WTF!)

Ok. Wtf.

I'm going about 90 when I have to break kinda hard, nothing too crazy, when after I pull out of the turn, my car starts making a rubbing noise. Also, my car makes this engine whine(sounds like a whine of a supercharger, its that loud) noise on a stock ls1 engine (00 SS).

One more thing, my car makes this funny noise when I start my car. It goes away after a few minutes (and either stops when I rev my engine or is blocked by my engine noise).

Note, when my RPM's get higher, that whiney noise gets louder.

Someone help me :>

Is the rubbing noise (sounds a lot like pipes or somethin) my suspension?

Help me out guys, thanks a lot.

hmm. Do you have any mods (I know you say stock, but just double checking)? The noise at start up - is it a whine or a ticking? Is the whine constant when driving (could be an air leak around the air box)? If you can answer these questions, we can determine a little more.

If you have cut outs those could be rubbing.

I disagree, his car clearly grew a supercharger.

My guess is your alternator is going out. ..

The noise when you first start the car is most likely one of the pumps (water or fuel, can't remember which) priming up. Mine does the same thing. It goes away after a little while. I had a chirping noise a while back and replaced my belts. Took care of that problem. I wasn't aware that the 2000s had piston slap issues.

Wink

My car is COMPLETELY stock. It's not a whine, the whine happends, again, usually after hard stops and sharp turns. The noise at start up is...mmmmmm...I guess more of a ticking, not a whine. My car grew a supercharger? Sweet! ;D

As far as anything going out, I highly doubt it. I got my ss from a dealer, and it was GM certified passing a 100 pt inspection. I got a 3 yr warranty (this is why it's still stock), so whatever you think the problem could be, tell me and i'll tell the dealer to check it out.

Thanks for all the help boys

Well, I reason I say it could be you alternator is because on my sister caddy she was getting a whine. It turn out the alternator bearings were shot causing it to whine..

GM 100 pt. inspection>

^they use that mainly as a selling pitch..

The noise that comes and goes is your A.I.R. pump. The whine that changes with RPM's is possibly the alt. That's what it sounds like to me.Why not take it in and have it looked at if it's still under warranty?

I'm w/ Zipper and nikkev, I had the whine associated w/ motor reving...Larnach clued me to it alittle while back and it was the Alternater. You can try the "Mechaics stethascope" a 2ft. piece of broom stik,or your breaker bar hold on end to the part in question(making noise) the other end in/on your ear will help you isolate the sound...you'll hear it thru stik or breaker bar or something like those.
That sound at start up I have that one too...other than the normal sound of the air pump operating for a few min.s every once in awhile mine kinda gets loud like War war war war whar whar and does stop if you give it gas but returns at idle.Havent quite figured this one out(not fixed) and the sound isnt everytime its a rogue sound(driver side). But the air pump at start up is heard faintly this is normal but I think my rogue sound is a sign that its goin bad

I don't know about that noise when braking after 90 but this one sounds like piston slap. I would just take the car to the dealer and let them deal with it. Might want to record how many miles were on your car when you dropped it off at the dealer.

I'm with the alternator, but mine went out all the way and it sounded real whinny like no super charger i've heard lately. Consider your self lucky if you get a little bit of time between the time the alternator goes and the time it takes to go get a new one. This way you can bolt it in there as soon as you have time.
