Nope, the LS1 cars with 2.73's got the steel driveshaft. The 6 speeds with 3.42's and the auto's with the performance axle ratio package with 3.23's got the aluminum driveshaft. An SS was not available with 2.73's, all the auto SS's had to have the option which made them 3.23's

 

My car runs just fine even though that clicking noise is annoying as h3ll. I'm still gonna take down the mechanic and see what he thinks it is. Thanks for all your information everybody I really appreciate it.
