Can you hear the Flowmaster at idle and when crusing on a LS1?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did all kinds of searching on it.

I got a Corsa catback and while it sounds mean as hell on the outside, you can barely hear it on the inside. It seems like it is like that by design (their Power-Pulse RSC sound cancellation technology). I'm not really concerned with the performance factor here, just the sound.

I had a Flowmaster 80 Series on my LT1 Z and loved it. I've heard that LS1s are quieter at idle though. Will I like the Flowmaster 80 Series on my LS1? In other words, will I be able to hear it? I miss that rumble that I used to hear when I was cruising or sitting at a stoplight.

I was thinking about leaving my Corsa catback with the nice tips in place and taking the muffler out and putting in a Flowmaster 80 Series but I don't want to waste my money if it's not any louder than the Corsa while crusing and idleing. Please help as I will get my tax return this Friday and need to know something soon.

I have the series 80 and it's pretty quiet at idle and cruising say at 70 or so. The only time it is louder is when I stand on it pretty good, and then it's more of a mellow tone IMHO. If you really want loud check into a loudmouth system,,,,,,,

That's what I was afraid of. I don't want the loudmouth though because I heard it sounds like a NASCAR car at WOT. That's too much for me. Crap, I probably should have never got my LS1.

Has anybody heard a Corsa and a Flowmaster 80 Series from the inside of a LS1?

My buddy has a flowmaster cat back on his 02z, with slp lts and orps it sounds pretty nice. Mellow at idle and it rips when you open it up.

Ok, mellow, but can you hear it decently on the inside of the car?

I have a Flowmaster 80 series on my 99 Z28 and a 3" I pipe installed, headers are stock, the cats are still there and the Y pipe is stock as well. It sound pretty good outside the car, it's a pretty deep tone inside but no "rumble" like on older cars with a dual exhaust ... I kind of gave up looking for a good sounding exhaust, just save some bucks and get a good old muscle car. IMO you'll need long tube headers, a hot cam and maybe a carburetor instead of injection to make it sound real sweet.... I believe there's nothing out there for less than a thousand that makes it sound right

If you're asking if you can hear it decently inside the car when you get on it, yes you can IMHO. For me it was what I was looking for, I didn't want a loud drone when on the road, but I wanted to hear it when I got on it.

Maybe you can find someone near you with that setup and try to get a ride to check it out.

I've got a Flowmaster 80 muffler on my stock WS6 exhaust. I love the sound. There's a little difference at idle, but not much. As you tach up to about 2,500 it gets better and it drones around 2800 RPM.

Coming to Memphis anytime soon? I'll take you for a drive.

Thx for the offer, but I'm not going that far anytime soon.

Thx for the help guys, much appreciated.

Well, I guess I'm going to go ahead and get the Flowmaster on Friday. I'm going to keep the Corsa muffler for a while in case I don't like it. Eventually I'm going to get Hooker LT headers so hopefully that'll help. I guess I'll add cam work to my list too.

I was originally going to get a Borla muffler but they don't have a muffler-only for F-Bodies yet. They are supposed to come out with one in a couple of months but I don't want to wait that long.

If you want a rumble get a cut out, that way it will rumble when open and when closed it sounds normal.
