I got an SES tonight...no clue why, car is running great. Can the codes be checked witha jumper or will I need a scan tool?

You can't jumper anything newer than a 93.
Stop by the house on your way home from work tomorrow afternoon and I'll check and reset it for you.
You pass within 3 miles of my house on I-69 when you go thru Charlotte.
