Can a Camaro beat a 3000GT?

I was just checking some out on the net, and they look really light and have twin turbos. Just a question.

Im surprised, truly. I was talking to a guy I know who was going to buy one. He said he was going to stomp me into the ground. I told him i didnt know anything about 3000GTs, but i also told him never to underestimate an LS1 connected to a Hurst!

Talking LOL

Are you serious dude? LOL. The VR4 is a low 14 second car stock. The newer LS1 (2001-2002) f-bodies are capable of running high 12s with a good driver bone stock. Most people run at least low to mid 13s with stock LS1 f-bodies. VR4s are significantly slower than the LS1 f-body stock.......Nice cars though.

VR4's weigh about 4000 lbs, and are rated 300 hp stock. Considering a 30% drivetrain loss (all wheel drive), you're looking at around 200-220 to the pavement. 14's at best. being a turbo, they take well to mods. because of the wieght, however, he can plan on replacing the $3000 worth the transaxle/transfer case every year.

Also, 3000GT's are known in the service world as one of the most difficult cars to work on. They require ungodly amount of hours to do anything.

They do look awesome, and can be a streetable 12 sec touring car, but it takes a lot of $$$$.

I came up on one at a stop sign in my STOCK '98 Z28, 6SPD, it said "twin turbo" on the trunk. He took off, I ran the stop sign and by third gear was looking at him in the rearview mirror. He was bummed!! I was very pleased..............
