Cams for a 2002 SS with SLP package?

What would be the best cam to get for an SS with an SLP package for everyday driving that wouldn't need tuning or new rods? Also, how difficult is it to do a cam swap on these?

You will need to replace the pushrods and springs for any cam swap in an LS1. I have and really like the TR220/114 cam. With stock tuning there are no driveability issues or SES lights, and it passes inspection.

What are the specs on that cam/ How much power did it add? Where is the best place to buy it?

Thanks.

I was thinking about getting this Comp Cam:
"Comp Cams LS1 Camshaft - 212 / 218 .522 / .529 114 LSA 1200-6000 RPM Power Band. Excellent low-end power. Mild Camshaft, great for automatic cars with the stock or mild aftermarket torque converter and daily drivers. Works well with Crane 1.8 Roller Rockers."

Seems like it would work well without new pushrods, springs, and tuning. What do you think?

I think Chuck's answer is spot on and would be most anyone's recommendation. Do the Thunder Racing 220/220 on 114 lsa. Buy the kit from them install it over a weekend and live happily ever after.

I recall it is www.thunderracing.com.

If you do a search on here and LS1.com you will come to the same conclusion.

The ls1 doesn't need or want the old dual pattern cams. In fact TR is going and others are following to a reverse dual pattern with more duration on the intake side not the exhaust because of the heads flow characteristics.

I have just ordered heads/cam and am stepping up to the224/224 on 114 lsa, but that is due to doing both at once.

The 220/220 on 114 fits your question better.
