Cammed...Do I need a TB???
Cammed...Do I need a TB???
I have done a search and have found this is a very controversial issue, so it really didnt help me and I am looking for some more advice.
I will have all the mods in my sig...including the future ones when I get my car dyno tuned and was wondering if I should add this too my list?
So....do I need an aftermarket throttle body or ported stocker?
I know I do not NEED IT...the car will run just fine without it. But if it is going to give me 10 horsepower or more I am willing to buy one...if not, I wont waste my time/money.
thanks

I'm not shure how may HP you stand to gain, but i'd just get the stocker ported at some point. There are some guides on the net about how to home port it with a dremel, so if I were you i'd look into something along those lines because an aftermarket TB is a bit pricey.
Re: Cammed...Do I need a TB???
do a search for "shaner"
he does a great job for about $120 I think. Ports it, polishes it, fills in the IAC holes and drills new holes for it. Great looking pieces....

Well its not like someone with a compareable set up is going to beat me just because they have a ported or aftermarket TB...I think I will just leave it alone. Maybe drill out the idle hole a little bit for driveability and thats it.
I was checking it out today...and when you open it to WOT...it only opens like 85 percent of the way...from the looks of it this would stop more air from coming in than you would get from porting the TB...hmmm

Personally, I would look into the people/places that will do a nice P&P on exchange. You're probably talking 5hp tops with the P&P and bump-stop mod, but for $120 it's not all that bad. Just my $.02 .
