Cam swap with NO reprogram.

I'm looking at the MTI B1 cam. This is the old 221/221 .559/.559 114LCA cam.

What happens if I don't get my ECM programmed for it? I'm 15 mins away from Thunder Racing and about 45 mins away from Futral Motor Sports, so programming could be had easily, and I will more than likely do that, BUT

If I don't get it programmed;

I can live with more "lope". It's a mild cam anyway.
I have a 6-speed car so I'm one up on trying this with an A4 car.

What will happen in the gas milage department without a reprogram? Does the reprogram really affect milage or just drivability?

My car was just recently tuned for all of my bolt-ons and a gear change so it's got some of the tweeks already.

Post if you know please.

A tune would help get the most out the cam but your car will do find with no tune.
