Im thinking of putting a Futral F13 cam 112 LSA in my 02 SS...using stock heads, what needs upgraded or replaced other than springs and pushrods?? car has only 9000 miles on it, stock motor...has LT headers, O/R Y, cat-back, SLP MAF, lid, K&N, UD pulley, M6. thanks!

although it's hard to say if a stock clutch would hold the power...if its a manual

I would throw a stronger timing chain on it. The gears will be fine. And I also put in a ported oil pump just for safetys sake.

To do it "right", you'll need to include the LS2 Timing Chain set, Ported LS1 or LS6 pump, titanium retainers.

Also, you'd want to port your stock TB, since it's worth quite a few horsepower when you switch to a cam like the F13.

The stock clutch isn't going to live long with 400+ rwhp

oh yeah...forgot about the timing chain.

and i was undeer the impression t he 01/02 fbodies got the higher flowing LS6 oil pump.
granted a ported ls6 would flow even better....but still.

^Yeah. WHile you have the cover off, you mind as well replace the pump and timing chain.. I've heard the stock chain is fine. -Anyone shed some light on that one?

Have fun w/ the oil pump pickup bolt... ... TSP should sell the rods you use to hold the lifters in place so you don't drop one. otherwise, it should be an easy project, depending on your skill level.

Are they ported stock heads? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but won't stock heads choke off that cam? With stock heads you may just barely get 400rwhp. With some Dart 205s, you be looking at like 420-430rwhp. I'd really help bring that cam to its full potential.

The stock heads may be the limiting factor with this cam but it'll still make good power.

Even with a mild cam you can do better than stock heads. Otherwise the LS6 would have ran Ls1 heads and the budget heads wouldn't give the nice gains over stock.

So yes, it can make decent power w/stock heads but when you can gain ~40hp more from ported heads it does sound like its being choked off or limited.
