T-rex cam, stock heads, bolt ons, bad-*** tune, 12bolt, slicks, 4500 stall

and practice

seems like they were in the mid to high 10s with that setup....

daily drivable...nope

cam only...no way

least not by normal "daily drivably" definitions.

mid to low 11s are possible with a car that can be driven in rush hour traffic...but not 10s...i don't think

Re: Cam only 10's?

The record for stock internals/ stock cam is actually in the 10s. Race weight was the biggest contributing factor in addition to every possible bolt-on.

Depending on if you want creature comforts (besides just a light weight race seat) and good drivability then the 10s with just a cam quickly get harder to run.

I'm sure that "10 second bolt-on LS1" car isn't too much fun to drive on the street to the park on a Saturday afternoon.

I'd go with the TRex as it was designed as a max effort stock CID camshaft.

Re: Cam only 10's?

not much has been talked about on the Trex in a while

i'd be looking more towards the FMS RJ cam....it's made almost 415 to the wheels on Kraests car....through a vette drivetrain

Re: Cam only 10's?

Rodney's car (the cam-only LS1 record holder) is a local guy who's car is basically a trailer queen ever since he put the big gears and pro-shifted T-56 (removed 5th and 6th gears) and lightened it. That car is INSANE, but is basically a racecar.... Pretty much a step down from a stock eliminator car. I think the best he's gone cam-only (still has stock rockers and TB) is around 10.2X@ 130ish. I think the previous best when he still drove the car on the street non-proshifted was more like mid-10s....still VERY impressive.

My car did that also with a stock unported TB and no underdrive crank pulley, which together is worth at LEAST another 10 rwhp. I think the car could have put down 430 had I installed all of the bolt-ons on it.

My buddy has the F-14 and put down 423/408 with his Z06.

To answer the original post:

It's possible if you use a huge cam, tune the **** out of your car, lighten it, and put slicks on it....However, a 240+ duration .610+ lift cam on a 110LSA, 4800+ stall + 4.56 gears would aggravate some people, as would leaving at the limiter with a 6-speed... Gas mileage would suck, driveability with a cam that big sucks, etc.

Re: Cam only 10's?

yeah i think magnus' car was in the 2700lb range had a 5000+ converter & put down like 430 to the wheels through either a 12 bolt or a 9in...definitly not streetable.
