I appreciate the feedback. I live in Miami. What is the average horsegain with MaCs? Does anyone know? Sounds like this maybe a good option for me. My car is a daily driver, so I wanna stay with a mild cam. I guess the couple of hundred bucks can go to something else.

Thumbs up

No problem! I put the MACs on at the same time as the LS6 intake, so I'll have to guesstimate. I got 30rwhp total through my welded in stock cats and without tuning. I'd have to say the MACs accounted for 18-20rwhp. You would get more with an off-road Y-pipe and tuning. If you are going to seriously mod the car later on down the line, go with a set of long-tubes. If you are going to keep a the mods mild, I'd save the extra money for the cam. Just my $.02.

No major mods after the ls6cam and headers.
I got the NX kit. I have 311 to the wheels right now
I just more power on the throttle before I spray the bottle.

Yah. I'd get the MACs, or Hookers if you want LTs. With the savings, I would get a LS6 intake and maybe a ASP pulley to go with your new cam. Are you going to do the installs yourself?

magyver, MACs aren't bad but I would go with the LTs. They're probably worth 5-10rwhp more than the MACs as your car sits right now. After the cam, they'd probably give you 10-15rwhp more and with the cam and N2O...even more. The nice thing about the mid-length's though, is that you know you're not going to have any issues with ground clearance (your car is lowered right? if so, ground clearance is obviously very important).

QTEC= Quick Time Electric Cutout. Their headers are just known as QTPs, Quick Time Performance...it's the same company but don't mind me, I'm just nit-picking. I just put them on about a month ago, install was very easy, ground clearance is good and they look great but I can't give you any dyno or track numbers because I haven't done anything since I put them on. However, QTP uses the old "Grot design," which is proven to make good gains and it's arguably the best design out there (for power).

I don't doubt that the Grot design LTs (Kooks, PPC, Thunder Racing also use Grotyohann's design) make more power than the other LTs on the market but I don't know if it's a very significant difference. So...if your trying to save some money, I would look into the Hookers or Jet-Hots. Even coated, they're still about $150-200 less than the QTPs. I'm pretty sure that you can't get uncoated Jet-Hots but you can buy uncoated Hookers and those are probably only about $400 (not sure of the price really).

We live in the same area so I can tell you that uncoated headers will get surface rust very quickly down here (I had uncoated Hookers on my '96). That's only cosmetic though, they'll look like s**t but nothing more.

MACs, Jet-Hots, coated/uncoated Hookers, QTPs...it up to you. I am very happy with the QTPs but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't be just as happy with any of the others.

Jeeez, I typed way too much, hopefully you'll read it though.

BTW, "race style" QTPs are only $725...they don't have any EGR or AIR provisions.

Thanks. This is great info. The install is going to be done most likely with my twin or a friend of mine. They both know cars.

I'm surprised that no one has said anything about the Pacesetters??? There is a great GP on them. I got my whole setup for around $500.00 shipped. (everything included) From what I have researched....they're basically the same setup as the Hookers. If you looking for the best bang for the buck, I would go with the Pacesetters.

Just my 2 cents.

I know this answer is priced out of a lot of people's reach, but try and hold off and install the cam, headers and a good flowing set of heads all at the same time. This way you get all the headaches out of the way at once (headers are a whole lot easier to install without the heads being in the way).

Thanks. I am going to look into it. Keep in mind that my car is dropped 1.3 front & 1.5 in the back.

If you want the grott design for a bit less go with Dynatech. $529 +shipping for 1 3/4" or $579 +shipping for 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" stepped. They are race only without emmisions though. SOme say the slip on collectors leak so you may need to use some silicone on them. Then you'll have to have a y-pipe made. Haven't heard much on ground clearance though.

Dynatechs do not use the "Grot design." They're basically just a race version of FLPs. $529 is a good price but I'm pretty sure that will not include the collectors, which are going to be another $100 or so.
