Cam and emissions
Well if you live in CA like me, the answer ive gotten from everyone is no. If you have the car set up to run right it will not pass, you have to do some de tuning to get your exhaust to put out less, and you must have the cats on, and not just for the visual inspection.
My friend has a 98 SS with similar specs as a HOT CAM. with no cats, he detuned it a little and did not pass, but not by much. the guy (he works with) doing the smog test told him to get the cats welded in just to pass smog..... and then he blew his tranny, so we don't know if it would have passed or not yet. Oh yeah- make sure you have a muffler on- stock is best if you have lots of engine work done.
You have to have someone that will pass your visual inspesction for you if you have a cam too. I hope I helped somewhat.
