buying ls1 6spd

where would you guys recommend buying an ls1 6 spd combo from? I've been hearing horror stories lately and need someone recommended by other enthusiasts.

Not ebay unless you can check out the car. Just go drive one and see if you like it, if something feels wrong then don't take it.

Be patient and dont buy the first one. I had to drive 6 hrs to test drive mine. Look around, and try and buy a non-modified one.

A combo as in just the engine and trans or the whole car?

If its either, just because it is stock at the moment does not mean it has never been modded or raced hard. Best bet would be to watch local boards and see who's selling and check out their posts and see whats been done or has gone wrong with it etc.

try to buy from an individual. ask for service records etc. low mileage cars are nice to find. warranties should be out of date. go look at www.cars.com. maybe carmax, atleast you would know it wouldnt be wrecked if you bought it from carmax.

Like he said, Ebay isnt bad if you can check the car out.
I bought my TA off ebay 2 years ago for 8000 Dollars and it ran and looked like brand new"KBB was over 18k" trade in value is stil way higher then what I paid for it 2 years ago. Don't completely rule out ebay.
