Buying am LS1 car, Auto or M6?
I am going to buy an ls1 car soon. I currently have a 95 z28 m6 and like it. My plans are to buy an ls1 car, do a good rear, and add a single turbo kit. What would be better, auto or m6? I honestly know nothing about autos.
thanks

if geared as stock, and the driver of the M6 can drive, the M6 will be faster.....the M6 is more fun, but if you get an auto and put a torque converter on it, it's probably the fastest combination you can get.

A4's are tested to be a couple tenths of a second faster, but not enough to count. M^ is the way to go !!!!

You going to be daily driving this car? Is there a lot of traffic? If so, you would want automatic, but the fun factor in a manual compared to an auto is unmatchable!

Well,in an auto I can:
Drive down the road with my left elbow propped on the door loosely holding the steering wheel.Have my right arm draped over my girlfriend as she snuggles close.Have my left leg propped up comfy,my right foot on the gas.And never move.Yeah,M6's are really more fun Not to me It reminds me of a joke:
-There is a KC-135 pilot fueling an F-16 in the air.The fighter jock, thinking he's bad does a barrel roll right in front of the 135.The F-16 pilot then calls over the radio to the KC-135 pilot and says "bet you can't do that".The KC-135 pilot says back "Nope,I'm too busy getting my steak out of the oven"
Just goes to show it's personal preference. But yes, auto's are faster, plus my 3:23's get me 28mpg on trips

After 8 years of driving a manual, an auto is like a breath of fresh air.. Not fun you say, peg it doing around 35 and try sideways for fun... I don't think I will drive another manual for some time to come. Besides, smoking, drinking cofee, rubbing my girls leg and racing a mustang all at the same time just doesn't get any easier!

Don't let anyone tell you an auto is faster. Don't let anyone tell you a M6 is faster either. These cars aren't determined by the trannies, each engine has slightly more or less hp than the one made before it.
Autos are more consistant at the track. Nobody can shift faster than a computer. An auto won't miss a shift either.
The manual puts you in complete control of the car (well, kinda). Get an M6 is you are gonna do any road racing or auto cross.
You've already had a manual for a while. See if you can drive an auto car for a few days. If you don't mind not being able to shift etc whenever, then it's gonna be a tough choice. If you like your manual, stick with it. Don't let others persuade you, get what YOU want.
One more thing, I never realized that there were so many misinformed people on these boards.
Rofl, wtf is this? Hey, every thousandth counts in drag racing.
Prove to me their faster. My 1990 IROC is a blast to drive, it's an auto.
You're right, it is preference. Then you contradict yourself. Prove to me autos are faster. M6's with 3.73s (even 4.10s) can get 28 mpg on the highway going the right speeds.
