Angry Broken Manifold Stud!! HELP!!

Just taking a well deserved break from installing my PaceSetter headers. Boy it sure does take a lot of pre work! Anyway, I got to the part where you remove the cat from the manifold. Well, of course my first stud, even with lube and WD-40, broke off. I know I will not be re using them but what can I do to not have this happen? If nothing, then can shops put new studs in there place? Need help before moving on.

Thanks all!!

Best bet is to soak with some kind of penetrating oil and let it sit for a while. The best kind I've found is called Aero Kroil made by Kano Labs. I've only seen it in an independant parts store back home (best parts store I have ever been in) because the owner orders it and sells it off the shelf, but there are lots of places that sell it online. Then take an impact and using a low setting if it is adjustable or just ease on the trigger use the hammering action to break loose any rust that has formed on the stud.
Any repair shop should be able to replace the stud. I've never really looked at the studs but I'm assuming(and yes I know what assume stands for) they are threadedin. Depending on where it broken you could try to take it out yourself by drilling and ease out or using a stud extractor.
That's what I'd try.

Well, I tried some stuff similar to that, not having access to an impact wrench sucks. They all broke. No big deal I guess, I will see if there is someone in this town that can re stud it for me. Thanks for your input.

Is there enough of the stud left to get a remover on it? If so, soak the hell out of it make sure your puller is perfectly centered on it and try to remove it. Most auto parts stores have replacement studs you can get as long as you can get the old one out.

When I was putting true duals on my old 85 Corvette I had 2 or 3 of 6 studs break on me. I was lucky and able to remove them myself......good luck!
