breaking in my new baby

How soon have you guy's taken to get on your new rides? I previously owned a few Camaros, the last was a 95 5.7 convert used, so break in time wasa done for me. I don't want to trash it before it's time. Some recommendations???

You'd better hurry up and start standing on it or your car will be doomed forever to be SLOW! ; )

heh...The sooner you start driving the car hard the sooner you can get it back to the dealer when things start tearing up. You want to get all of that stuff fixed under warranty. Don't wait until your three years are up.

Seriously...You may want to city drive it for around 100-200 miles just to let everything heat up and cool down a few times. I ran mine through the gears as soon as the dealership was out of view. I didn't really start slamming gears until about 170 miles.

1/2 throttle and under 4-4.5k rpm for the first 500 miles. After that let it rip. Letting off the throttle in gear helps flood the rings with oil, a good thing to do early on too. Get some syn. oil in on your first change too. 500-600 miles is a good first oil change. And welcome to the board, I like your sign in name. also a search on the red button above will bring up lots of info on many things you may ask. Later>>>>>
