Bolt On LS1s

I have a 2000 WS6 6 Speed... as you can see in my signature.

I am gonna do pretty much a full exhaust and tune for the first 5-6 months with the car. But I can't find any solid bolt on LS1 guys trap speeds. Just ETs. The car will be in full trim. All options... Just hoping for like 350whp and torque... maybe trapping 109-110 in the 1/4. That feasible?

Would you throw a lid on a WS6 car?

What does full boltons consist of? Full Exhaust, Pulleys, ? haha

Lid, Flowmaster (aka: Chokemaster) cat-back, otherwise bone-stock '02 Z28 M6, I was pulling ~107.65 - 107.80 mph in the 1/4 mile about ~6 weeks ago at the track (and I dyno'd 317 RWHP / 335 RWTQ).

With a few extra ponies, ~110 mph traps shouldn't be a problem .

Re: Bolt On LS1s

didn't some cars come with the upgraded lid from the factory?? or was that only the special editions in 02?

a lid is definatly a good choice on any car if it has the stock intake setup...it's VERY restrictive and ugly

Ive wondered that too.

I haven't installed a lid yet, because my SS is mostly stock and you wont see that much of a gain is you already have the ram air box, like SS and WS6 models do, but ya they are ugly.

My 99 SS only has Hooker Super Comp LT, ORY, Borla, 3.42 gear, and a shift kit. It went 12.98 @ 109 mph, spinning a little more than I would have liked in 60 ft. (2.1)

Mine hasn't seen a dyno yet, but its coming in not too long with a tune then I'm calling it a day.

Re: Bolt On LS1s

A lid was definately an option on a the 2002 SS's... I'm not sure about 2001's. Its easy to tell if a car has the optional or any aftermarket lid as there wont be any visible air silencers like their are on stock lids.

Re: Bolt On LS1s

My old '02 Z trapped a best of 113.7 with just bolt-ons...MTI lid, !FRA, DS Predator, Pro 5.0, QTP LTs, ORY, Corsa catback and Nitto DRs.

Since, the new owner ported the TB and went 114.xx.

Your WS.6 isn't quite as light as a hardtop Z and it's a 2000, not an '01-'02 so I wouldn't expect it to trap that high but it shouldn't be too far off...prolly 110-112 with the same mods.

If your hood is a factory SS hood it's not a ram air hood, it's a cold air hood. You would see a definite gain with a lid.

Did you do a rear end or gear swap? A4 cars din't get 3.42s from the factory but they like them.

My 2000 Z trapped 107.5 with just a lid and a shifter.

Re: Bolt On LS1s

ALL cars should have lids. And yes, it was an SLP option. I don't know what years it was available.

110 traps should be easy -- you might even get there with just a lid and full exhaust.

Ya I know, but its just easier to say it that way since thats what everyone calls it, nobody seems to understand that they are not REALLY ram air. Air lid gains on a stock car are not noticeable so Im not gonna sweat it just yet. Just a gear swap.

Re: Bolt On LS1s

I trap 108-109 regularly with an auto that is minus the LS6 intake and underdrive pulley. So it seems more then feesable that a full bolt-on M6 can trap 110-113. This is of course assuming decent track elevation and weather. You won't trap that high in Denver, Colorado during July

Are you kidding? It's the best $100 you'll ever spend on your car.
