Question Blow Bye? Should i be worried?

Well I had the car dynotuned yesterday. Motor has 134k on it.On the wide open throttle runs we noticed the car had a good amount on blow bye. The car still pulled 332hp and 355 ft tq thru a big 3500 stall convertor. Should I be worried?

have a leak down test performed if you are worried about it. i did. while i have a few cylinders causing smoke in the high rpm band, it still runs strong, i just wouldnt put nitrous on it.

Black smoke = fuel

Bluish-black smoke = oil burning.

Thanks Kraest, It was a decent amount of black smoke. Is this just because of mileage?? The car was running on a **** tune for many months so the a/f ratio was horrible. thnx

It just means that it's running rich, probably because of the **** tune you speak of.

was it at the higher RPM's or @ 2000~ish when they started the pull? I asked the same question when my car was tuned. The guys @ ESP said it was normal for LS1's to smoke at high RPM's. From what I read over on the other board, it's actually because of the PCV system. A catch can can fix that.

The PCV system on the LS1's pulls the crank case 'vapor' form the valve cover. On the LS6's it pulls from the cam/lifter valley. -Less chance of sucking oil that way.

My smoke seemed grey.

Higher RPM's. Thanks alot. I guess its just build up due the high mileage. The car has 134k on it. I was worried because my old 99 Z28 at 44k didn't blow out smoke like that and my SS didn't on the dyno either

Replace the PCV valve. Might be the culprit.
