Best gears for street racing for '02 Z

I have been seeing alot of 3:73's in many posts in cars that come with stock 3:42's. Are the 3:73's that much better?

I've got 4.11's and I love them.

How badly do the 4:11's affect your top speed? I know, I want the best of both worlds. Have you taken a crack at your top speed?

If you're looking for gears that are best suited for street racing you ought to go with 4.10's. That's best for stoplight to stoplight, though I don't really condone street racing... Personally, I will be going with 3.73's because I do so much highway driving and I can't have my gas mileage suffer. But for what you are looking for, I'm pretty confident that most people will suggest 4.10's.

Depending on where you drive.... If you drive on the higway a lot IMO you won't want 4.10's, if you do street driving, yeah get those because you can still get good gas mileage. In my daily commute, I'm on the freeway for about 10 minutes and I will probably never get rid of my 3.43's. Maybe I'd go for 3.73's but never 4.10's. If you want acceleration and top speed, you should get 3.73's. I doubt you will do top speed runs more than street racing so mayeb you should go with 4.10's. It's your choice.

I posted a top speed spreadsheet a while back on here.

http://home.earthlink.net/~jonaa/topspeed.html

Turns out you will probably get around the same top speed with 4:10 just in 6th gear instead of 5th. If you use the spread sheet it is like 160mph vs. 165mph. I doubt you'll be cruising that fast too much. And if you add some more HP you will get a higher top speed than a 3:42 car.

I have 4:10 in my car, just checked my fuel millage and it was 20mpg. I drive probably 50% on the expressway. That is driving like an idiot also, so I think I would get much better if I didn't do that.

Street racing is illegal, endangering to others, and stupid. Take it to the track! The 4.10's will work better there anyway.
