Best cam for a full bolton

I have a 99 TA will every bolt on. I am looking to do a cam swap and not really sure what to look for. My heads are still stock so a wild cam is out of the question. What would be a good grind and a good brand I was looking at SDPC at the Z+220 which is a 220/224 at .051 a 114LSA and I was also looking at the lunati either lun55001 or 55002 but they don't have a grind or anything so I don't know what the grind is on that one but it says power range of either 1500 to 4500rpm or 1800 to 4800rpm. And what kind of power gains am I looking at with these cams. Any other suggestions will be appriciated.

"Best" would be a personal choice. Like deciding what is the "best" underware for you.

Learn about cam specs, what they mean and do, then make your own educated descision.

Re: Best cam for a full bolton

any aftermarket cam you are going to be usuing has to be in the 6k+ if your going to make anymore power (or at least i thought)... look at the tr224 because it it proven... with an M6 and full boltons you should be at like 370-80rwhp...

even with the Magic Stick cam, you can still use that on stock heads which will be fine so heads really arnt a problem

everything really depends on what you want to do with you car, full on drag, daily drivier, weekend driver amount of hp

The car will be a daily driver that sees the track occasionally. Would like around 375-400HP and a bit of an uneven idle.

How big of stall do you have?

There are various schools of thought on this.
The Aussies tend to run short duration, high lift, tight LSA.
Most around here run long duration, same lift, and wider LSA.

well you should buy a stall first before you buy the cam...

Agreed. Stall should have been one of your first mods!

Don't want a stall since its a daily driver and i have heard of plenty of people who run cams without a stall.

Well, you don't have to go huge... even something like a 2300 would make a noticeable difference.

I like what I have heard about MTI's Stealth series cams.

What!!?? Doesn't everyone stall their DD? That would be the FIRST thing I would have done to my daily driver if my car was an auto.

It would have got a 3200 vigilante, and I would have never looked back.

thought stalls on a DD ruins gas mileage and puts extra stress on your drive train

Quite frankly if that's your rationale for not getting a stall, the same rationale applies to a cam ... more stess on your valve train and decreased gas milage.

And it's launching that stresses the drive train ... just driving it around with a stall will have minimal impact on the drive train.
