basic cam questions

Hi, I was looking at different cams (mainly the thunder racing cam swap package) i was wondering if this package which is 700 dollars has everything i need. it has
Your Choice of Thunder Racing Custom Grind Camshaft
- Comp Cams 26918 Valve Springs
- Comp Cams 772 Titanium Retainers ($100 Additional)
- Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400)
- Cam Swap Gasket Kit (Specify Year of Car)

I was also wondering if it is worth it to get the titanium retainers at 100 dollars more. as i have no idea what these do. Also, it says do not use 1.8 rockers...so i was wondering if some 1.7 rockers would be good?? Basically I know nothing about this subject and I hope this is in the right forum...thanks for your help.

www.ls1howto.com for a complete list of everything you'll need. If you are doing the install, you'll need fluids and tools etc. New 1.7 rockers aren't nessessary but you can replace your stock's with aftermarkets if you want. Ti retainers lower the weight of your valvetrain, so theres less stress on it when you rev high. I'd wait, because Thunder has sales on that kit all the time, just keep an eye in the gp/specials section.
