B4C = NO BIG E
OK, let's end this stupid B4C discussion once and for all. Here's the official GM website with the big bad B4C Police Package. Check out the specifications, engine and everything else, (oh, bigger alternator, WHOOPIE!), is STOCK Z28 LS1. NOTHING SPECIAL FOLKS!! LS1's are very strong, doesn't matter if they're in a police package, or in any other off the line Z28. Too bad '02 is the last year, what a DRAG!! Take care all......Brent

But I think it demonstrates NOT how unimpressive having a B4C is, but more appropriately how GOOD the stock Z28 is. GM had to change nothing to satisfy the police forces - I have some detailed articles from the Michigan State Police regarding their thorough testing of the car. Unlike past Mustangs (SSP) which had a lot of work done to them to bring them up to police standards (hell, they could barely keep up to the 9C1 Caprice), the police loved the stock Z28.

Yes, all true. I have a bunch of the official sales brochures from GM on the 2000 model B4C. Completely stock Z28 with a bigger capacity altenator.

"I just talked to an unbiased chevy service manager from a dealership that is unrelated to the car in question. He told me the b4c is the fastest production camaro ever made -hands down, no question - the only one ever faster he said was the yenko and that wasn't a production car. Supposedly the motors are different-tweaked corvette motor. I'm still learning".
Just trying to "learn" him...B4C is an option, not a whole different Camaro Z-28.
Later Man........Brent

I believe the big draw for these cars is that according to your insurer it aint a Z28 folks, its a base model camaro! So the insurance is MUCH less on them than on a Z or SS.
The other perks are the lack of badging and the body color tops. Makes the cars look like V6 Camaros, sleepers!
I can also tell you this, and this is a fact (I work for a law enforcement agency)... alot of the "hype" you hear about these cars is probably based on them after they are modified at the government garages. They do the same stuff to the B4Cs that we do to our Z28s. Lids and MAFs and 160 thermostats go onto these cars as soon as they roll them off the truck. At least thats what happens at the agencies around here...

did any of you see "Car Crazy" on Speedvision a couple of weeks ago, when they interviewed the top guy of the Cali. Hwy Patrol?
He talked about the B4C for several minutes and even showed them driving one around the track. Even took Barry McGuire(sp?) for a few runs doing J-turns! That was one of the best episodes of ANY car show ive ever seen. they said theyve had reports of some CHPmen doing in excess of 160!!!
btw - i thought the VIN shows the engine in the particular car, showing the B4C has the LS1, which would automatically give the Camaro a premium charge

my Ex-Xtreme
the truck has been traded in on 5-22-02(my 20th Bday) for a:
'98 Z28 M6- red/white leather, TTops, completely stock, 37k miles

I have owned 3 colo. state B4C's and lived in MO. with one.
When you tell the insurance Co. the VIN they !KNOW! it's a Z28 and will cost you the SAME!! I argued with them that, No place on the car said Z28 but they said didn't make any difference, they knew it was a Z28 in sheeps clothing.
I tried the same thing in NV. (where I now live) and was told the same thing.
I know this is a late post but just have been taking time to catch up on the threads.
DO NOT PLAN ON A B4C costing less than a Z28

Thats said I mean If youre in the market for the car the biggest diference Ive seen betwen a regular V6 and a Z28 is maybe $150 for 6 months... and thats there in NY where rates are high! Its not that big of a difference.
