Got about 22,00 miles out of both my factory RSA's and my Khumo 712's....It looks like my Yokohama's are wearing a little quicker than the previous 2 sets of tires i had, but they are definitely a superior tire.

BF Goodrich tires are notorious for very soft compounds, thus very poor mileage. I have never seen more then 20K to 24K for BF Goodrich Comp TA radials (I use on my 73 Camaro).

For Goodyear GSCs, I have been very fortunate. My first set, on a 2000 Formula, saw 31K miles! But that was me, a very old fart, driving sensibly. Funny, the second set, when my son was using the car for the summer saw about 14K miles!!!

Yeah, I remember, I used to burn the heck out of dad's polyglass (F70s I think) on his Mercury Maurauder 429!!! That thing would lay black as far as you wanted. It was far, far, too heavy! His 240Z didn't fair much better either.

My current 02 Firehawk has 12K miles and I am very pleased. However, the edges are showing wear on the front. That only means I am cornering the heck out of the car. It has been lowered and really handles....with the Bilsteins, new springs, adj. panhard, SLP torque arm, Edlelbrock LCAs, BMR SFC and BMR STB, and many other performance mods.

I disagree with the statement above about BFG tires being notorious for soft tire compounds. I've used BF Goodrich Comp TA VR4's on an '89 Iroc since it had 60,000 miles on it. It now has 198,000 miles on it and it has averaged between 60,000 and 70,000 miles per set of tires. Keep in mind that the 89 Irocs have stock wheels that can't be switched from front to back, so rotating tires from front to rear becomes more expensive than it is worth. So, even though tire rotation was never done properly (only occasionally side to side) they still wore quite well while providing plenty of grip. BTW, we're talking about fairly wide tires, size 245 x 50 x VR16.

I bought my car with the CompTA ZR's (top of the line comps)
they probably had at least 5k miles of easy driving (maybe 1k miles of abusive driving), and I put another 30k miles on em
Of course unless Im at the track, I RARILY spin the tires. I'de rather get my moneys worth outta some tires

Do you like the KDWS' ? I am contemplating what tires to get. I had a set of 17" Falken Azenis st155's on my VW. I loved them, real sticky and quiet but they were only good for abot 15k.

Yep. I love my KDWSs. 16K on them right now and I'm pleased with everything about them, especially the way they wear. I just want 30K out of these and I'll be satisfied.

Tire wear

I have approx 35,000 miles on my stock tires, rotate them every winter and so far they're showing lots of tread left.

I dont know what part of Florida that the other guy lives in but down here in southeastern Florida most roads are cement. They are corral based and very abbrasive on tires. On the otherhand the Federal Highways are relatively smooth as glass because they are in great shape and new down here. Im happy as heck to get 22-25K per set of tires. Ive usually bought a new car rather then put on a 3rd set

even with the abrasive roads , snow traction in boca is kinda useless don't you think? The KDW is dry and wet but the KDWS is for winter/snow thats all im saying.

Sorry DT whad du I noe?? I left the NY Mountains and came down here. Bought my 4th f-body and a set of Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP (Ultra High Performance Summer) tires. And I havent looked back. Bye the way I drove an F-Body in the snow all the time up north. My advice buy a beater. No rear wheel dive performance car Ive owned since my 68 Vette has been worth a damm in snow, regardless of tires
