m6s are faster stock and same mods minus a converter.the fastest ls1s have an auto for a reason.racing on a highway is one thing.1/4 mile is another and thats where a stalled a4 shines.

manuals can be more fun and youre able to get more out of your car handling wise but dont think for a second all m6s will beat a4s because thats far from the truth.

theres no doubt that the fastest documented ls1 fbodies are manuals and id have to say on average theyre faster.that doesnt mean however every m6 that was produced is faster than every a4 made.

for instance a hardtop a4 with 3.23s will have an edge against an optioned out m6 convertible.also some cars run slightly better than others.thats not as much of a factor anymore but cars still vary.

Please lets be just a bit realistic here. How many people who buy a F-body (M6 or A4) and visit a site like this keep thier cars stock? I'd venture a guess that it would be less then 5%. I'm not saying less then 5% of F-body owners, I'm saying less then 5% of the ones who are registered camaroz28.com members.

Now take the 95% of modding A4 owners who frequent this site and lets guess as to how many will never put a torque converter (the single best A4 mod) in thier cars at any point and time. I'm guessing a good 75% will get one probably sooner then later. It's the nature of the beast. Get a F-body, visit the sites, see the times people are hitting with mods, get the mod bug yourself and well we all know the ending.

The top 20 ET's in ls1techs database has only one M6 in the list. That's it, just one and he was number eight or nine I believe. Torque converters are the #1 reason autos have the other 19 spots. it's friggin amazing how these stalled autos launch with the right tires and suspension work.

But I agree with you about stock vs stock. If your gonna keep your car stock or go no further then lid and catback then there is no reason to even consider a A4 IMO. M6 will come out on top in the 1/4 mile and on the highway if you can drive it well.

But if you plan to mod beyond lid and catback then an A4 is a great choice if your gonna spend a lot of time at the track. Heck if I could afford it I'd love to have a M6 as a daily driver for fun and a heavily modded/stalled A3 for the track. That's my idea of heaven.
