But after I read your sig I wanted to warn you that SLP longtubes have a bad reputaion for hanging too low and scraping the ground. Also the Loudmouth exhaust will sound great with cats but if you do the Longtubes and replace the cats with o2 sensors then it'll be way too loud and raspy for most peoples liking. Just a little FYI.
FLP and QTP both make high quality headers or Pacesetter makes a great bang for the buck header. If you get HF cats the loudmouth will sound good but if you don't want any cats I might consider something like a Hooker catback, Borla or better yet true duals.
Good Luck
I learned on my '98 Z28 M6. That was the first car I drove stick on. Yeah it was a lil tough at first and for about the first month I would kick myself for not buying an auto, something I knew and was comfortable with. Yet I can say now that after 4 monthes I love it. I still learn more and more and get better and better everytime I drive it, and I probly still have a ways to go before I'm even close to really good, but its a blast to drive. I live near a major highway which is a blessing and a curse. 6th gear is insane gas mileage, I beet out my friends 4bangers mileage wise on the highway, yet during traffic, I'm not gonna lie, it SUX!!! Well I would go with the M6, but at the end of the day, its ur choice. OH and btw after driving a m6 z28, every other stick car seems easy as hell, I have to say the Z seems a lot more sensitive than any other manual cars ive driven.
i have driven both auto and manual camaro's i have owned 2 6speed manual camaro's so fare here in my high school life, i like manual over auto because of the control and gas mileage but the auto is still hell of fun to. I say get what u like and damn what other people say.
I've driven both.I prefer the auto simply for driveability. My car gets 29mpg on trips with 3.23's out back and I am very consistant at the track. The M6 guys that like the control just like the illusion of control. The auto will always shift faster than a human. They are both great cars and perform almost exactly the same on the track or on the street. So it's going to be all up to what you prefer. Most M6 guys have only driven other auto cars, the auto in F-bodies is actually a very good tranny....
It really on depends on you and where you live.
If you live in a place that has a lot of traffic, I would stay away from a M6, if not then I think it would be a better choice and I drive and A4.
For what its worth:
When I had my car (back when it had a cold air and catback) and my friend had his 97Z M6 Cold air and catback. He would ALWAYS beat me from a roll or on the highway....But when we went to the track, I ALWAYS had him by almost 2 tenths.
Thanks,
Claude

Remember, not all driving and racing is in a straight 1/4 mile strip.
Auto vs. manual is an old arguement. Get the one you want. I got the M6 because I drive some very windy roads. A manual is just more fun on them. I drag raced an auto car for several years. They're fun on the drag strip. Its all boils down to preferences.
I have had both, and I can say my m6 is about 3 times more "fun to drive", although I do miss a gear here and there (I've only had it since Christmas). My m6 is my daily driver, and it honestly is freakin' awesome everytime I drive it.....I NEVER get tired of the 6 spd, and cannot imagine having the auto back again, but then that's just my 2 cents. They're all fun to drive.
well, I had an auto.. in fact.. I had 6 of them.. All in one car.. 1995 Z28.. for 3 years it went through 2 trannies a year..
Afterwards I went straight for the M6..
No need to mess with trannies for a while..
Thats such a godsend!
I love my M6.. .I shift from 1st -4th-6th and forget about it..
much like autos...

Well 2 trannys a year definately sucks but /shrug mine has lasted 3 years and 58k miles and still going strong.
Lots of A4 folks have had good luck too. The key seems to be to know when your power is passing your trannys capabilities and then upgrade to a stronger tranny like a th400.
But M6's have to be aware of when thier 10 bolts and clutches are in danger so it's not a free lunch for anyone.
A4/A3 is still better for drag racing at the track. M6 will always be better for auto-x and pleasure driving.

I vote M6, I live where theres traffic (its not real heavy though) and I never get tired of it, its always fun. I have to disagree with whoever said that the camaro is harder to learn than other vehicles, because I learned on an old Jeep and you had go thru a lot to get that thing going, with the Z28 you dont even have to hit the gas if you dont want to, just ease off the clutch and your gone.
And as far as the a4 being faster drag racing
my buddy has an 98 a4 and at the strip hes faster by a few tenths, but on the road at a stop light I beat him every time, hes got a converter, but for some reason on the street he cant get grip, but since I have the manual I think I can control my launch a little better. Like everyone else is saying though get what makes you happy, no matter which way you go your getting a great car!!

My 95 had 114K when I traded it in and it never missed a beat. My 99 Firebird had 75K when I traded it in and the tranny never missed a beat. My current car has 53K and the tranny has never missed a beat. And all my cars are facing some heavy duty every now and then.

M6's are faster ..Between 2-5 tenths . People can deny this all they want , but I have owned both and driven many of each .
I have yet to drive an auto that felt near as strong as a 6 . "stock "
All M6 LS1's are capable of 12's " with sticky tires/good driver " >> There are auto's that wont break a 13.7 .
I traded a nice auto for my M6 , back in the LT1 days . My Auto was worth alot more . It was a loaded firebird . But the M6 I bought stomped it into the ground .
I have never lost to an auto . On the highway youll leave them , M6's have way more gear to choose from .
M6's are lighter
Way better gas milage
More fun to drive
Make more RWHP " less hp loss "
Have more gears
Logicaly , it is superior . Not as consitant though . Unless your a bracket racer , it dont matter . SO dont let anyone throw that one at ya
The only thing about it is , If you cant drive , a Auto will take you everytime . I raced some guy in my LT1 , and he was in his 2001 SS . I beat him bad , because he shifted slow and was putting it in 5th , and 4th . when he should have been hitting third .
If you are confident you can drive one good , or can learn how to . get one , you wont regret it .
Thats just MO , but I have driven many of each and have owned both . Thats how I base my conclusion .
