Question Assistance Interpreting Dyno Results

Got some unexpected results on my first dyno test session and would like some of you experienced folks to let me know if they are noteworthy or explained by dyno parameter accuracy. Here's the setup:

Temp 45, humidity 70%. Car is an 02 A4, 3.23. Lid, K&N, cutout open, TR MAF ends. HPP only to raise the rev limiter to 6300 and the 1/2 shift 2 mph.

Run 1: Base line - A/F 12.5
Max pwr 293.6 @ 5240 rpm. 290 @ 5700, 280 @ 6200, 275 @ rev limit

Run 2: Pull the K&N - A/F 12.5
Max pwr 300.8 @ 5240 rpm, 290 @ rev limiter

Run 3: Put the filter back in, disconnect the IAT sensor - A/F 12.7
Max pwr 303.2 @ 5240, 292 @ rev limiter

Ran out of time (it was club day), so I didn't get a read with the filter out and the IAT disconnected.

I wasn't too surprised at the gain with the filter out (although I didn't think it would be THAT much), but the IAT configuration was a shocker. Guess I'll give some more thought to Psycho's filter testing results, but how about some comments/experience on the IAT.

TIA, Katman sends

i did my baseline run a couple weeks ago, and i gained almost 10 hp from my first run to my last without doing anything at all. i guess that doesnt tell you anything about your IAT, haha, sorry. i was just comparing our runs, i mean, my car (stock 02 WS6 M6 w/k&n) had the same style increase as i did more runs. i started with something like 305 rwhp, and ended up pulling 314.3 rwhp and 330.9 ft/lbs on my third try without changing anything. oh well, just something to think about.

Those sound like good numbers. I have always wondered how accurate dynos are. If they have a 1% error then at ~300 hp you could have a 6 hp magin for error (+ or - 3). I don't know what the percent is though.

Also, did you throw a code when you unplugged the IAT sensor?

I didn't get an SES light, but I don't know if that is always present when you throw a code. I didn't (and haven't) had it on ATAP.

With the A/F being slightly higher with the IAT unplugged (and having MAF ends), I'm wondering if a MAFT would be a good idea. LS1Edit is a little farther down the road due to costs.

Honestly dyno's should only be used for tuning purposes(air/fuel)...you make a baseline run, and tune the car from there to see what kind of hp you gained. If you go jump on the dyno today I bet your results will be different then before.
