Mine started turning off while going down the road and no matter what I did other than turning the car off, the ASR wouldn't come back on. This went on for a few weeks and it turned out to be the Throttle Position Sensor going bad. Why that had anything to do with the ASR I don't know, but since I've replaced the TPS I haven't had a problem.

Cruise, ASR, and TPS are closely related. Sensors in one affect the other and feed info to the Body Control Module (BCM).
