Anyone hear this or notice?

I caught wind of a rumor stating that since roughly 99-00 that the union workers building the Camaros were annoyed that they received no aid from the gov't (didn't think to ask what they want gov't aid for, if it was money or what) and began just throwing together the Camaros using 6 cylinder parts on Z28s and SSs (I already questioned the info when transmission parts were mentioned b/c of the 5 & 6 speed difference) and therefore build quality is low. I have never been in an LS1 Camaro so I have no way of knowing, but just wanted to know if anyone had heard this before, or noticed any discrepancies w/ their Z28 or SS?
This has all come about b/c a guy who works at GM was thinking of buying a HO SS w/ green cloth interior (even has a nifty leaf pattern or something on the front seats) that has been sitting on their lot for quite some time, and started making calls to see about future value. To me he should know a bit about what the quality is like b/c he yammers on sometimes about working on Camaros, or if he is one of those guys who likes to talk along the lines of "I was gonna buy the Porsche, but the floor mats were of poor quality so I didn't get it."

Yeah, it didn't sound like a real solid story in the first place, but I thought I would check out what owners would have to say.
Were Trans Ams built in the same factory? I was in a 2002 and there wasn't anything wrong with what I saw.
