anyone else grind going into 2nd?

just a question, my tranny will grind when i try to shift into second at high rpm's. everything's fine when i'm driving like a granny and take my time on the shift and let the rpm's drop back down. however, when i try to shift into second quickly before the rpm's drop down, it will grind and not let me into 2nd until the rpm's drop.

anyone else have this problem? 2nd is the only gear that does this. has been happening for quite a while now. only tranny related mod i have is the skip shift eliminator.

thanks

my 4th gear does it, i'm gonna go have a high performance clutch put in and have the tranny rebuilt for around a grand, it should solve the problem, sometimes its just the clutch, cuz the stock clutches arent meant for racing really, and they dont dissengage quick enough sometimes causing you to grind a bit..... just my 2 cents

Mine does every once in a while. I noticed if I put the clutch in with "authority," it doesn't happen. This leads me to believe either the hydraulics are going, the Centerforce Dual is not fully disengaging or a combination of both. Either way, it pisses me off when it happens. If you listen to the video (outside shot) on my site, you can hear it.

Mine started grinding 4th last week, I took it to the dealer since its under the free standard warrenty Chevy gives after you buy a certified car. The syncro is broke, and apparently its a common problem on Z-28's and GM has a notice out on it. Too bad they had to order in the parts even though its a 'common problem'.

Mine does it in almost every gear, i think im going to try to get a professional opinion, if it might be the clutch or the synchros, or something else, b/c sometimes it does it and other times it's fine... it gets worse in the heat. It's starting to get worse so i gotta get it taken care of....

Yes, my car grinds into second all the time! I can be drining like a granny, and it still does it.

Do have a link to the service bulletin that this may be covered by? I have taken my car to the dealer three times, told them I had a bad synchro, and they pat me on the head and send me away saying there is nothing wrong with the tranny. Thanks!

rjarrardz28, try these two sites for recalls/service bulletins on your car.

http://www.alldata.com/recalls/index.html

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm

Some have more detail than others, but it is a good place to start.
