Lightbulb Anyone done sidepipes?

I was wondering if anyone has seen a 4th gen f-body with side pipes. I was thinking about how to do this. The idea I came up with would have most of the exhaust under the car except for where the pipe exits out to the side instead of hanging off the side of the car. Just wondering if there are any kits out there to do this. I always liked the sound of side pipes on the older cars and thought it would be cool to have on a new one. Yet me know what you think.

I think that it would look cool and sound good. I'm sure that if you go to any good shop you can work with them to custom make what you want for not too bad of a price. As for the sound, well, we can't all have big blocks.

Thumbs up

How about this: I'm not a big fan of the side pipes, but this SS is amazing!

There was a picture floating around of a white Z with old school sidepipes... slotted shields and all. Looked hokey IMO.
As far as side exit exhaust, there a lots of pics running around of that. They don't look bad. There are potential ground clearance problems though. Especially if you have SFCs, which every F-body should have. I saw pics of a car with SFCs and side exits... the guy cut 3 sides out of the SFCs to get clearance for his pipes. Ruined the SFCs.
Just some things to think about.

Thanks for your input and pics. I was measuring things up and clearance is an issue because one of the first things I am going to buy is sub-frame connectors. Side exiting exhaust does look decent however. If i do decide to do it I will get some pictures up so you can see but it will be a while before I can actually do it.

I think for the looks of our camaro's, we need the pipes coming out the back......the back end is a little plain without them
