Anybody got info on "Ultra Z" hood?

Does anyone out there have any warranted oppinions or comments on the SLP ultra Z hood. Does it's ram air work as effectively as the SS hood, better, worse? Just curious. I think it is a mean hood for a Z28, and I am just wondering if it is as functional as it is beautiful.

I really like my ultra-z hood! It fits perfectly over the air induction, and it should work just as well as the ss hood. It's worth it!

ultra Z hood

It should work alot better than the SS hood. Haven't seen or done any CFD to prove my conjecture but here's the two reasons why I think the Ultra-Z is better

1. The intake duct sits closer to the nose of the hood so a greater percentage of the freestream velocity makes into the duct. The boundary layer should grow less on the Ultra-Z hood compared to the inset SS hood (look at the length between the nose of the car and the entrance of the duct). The velocity at the duct for the Ultra-Z should therefore be greater.
2. There are no turns to further slow down the air once it enters the duct. It's a straight shot for the Ultra-Z and a 360 deg. turn for the SS. There's more oppportunity for velocity (and stagnation pressure) drop within the SS ducts.

Ultimately the stagnation pressure at the throttle body should be higher for the Ultra-Z hood. This is all conjecture, but I'm prettty certain that if you stick a pitot tube inside the air lid or before the MAF you'll find it to be true.

I wish I was still in school so I could try it out
