The Tsp is supposed to make 5 more rwhp than the competition. If you get a clear or carbon fiber look one be ready to wait months to get it. That's just what I've read from others. Another good lid is the direct flow. Stay away from the mti and whisper I've heard bad things about them.

I have had good luck with my Whisper Lid... However, my friend hasent had bad luck with his MTI lid. However, i hear the MTI carbon fiber lids are the bomb.

another vote for the TSP black lid. can't speak for the others, TSP is the only one i've had.

fits great. feels like a quality piece.

as far as gains... i gained 14.7 RWHP with the lid AND a cutout. maybe not as much as TSP advertises...

Cut out is generally good for 8-12 by itself

NOW you guys see why i was disappointed with a 14.7 rwhp gain from the lid AND cutout?

something doesn't add up. unfortunately, i don't know if the deficiency is in the lid or the cutout...

I got the Direct-Flow Lid from LS1 Motorsports. I've heard nothing but good things about it and it's only $95 AND if you have a '01-'02 they give you the K&N Breather for free. TSP charges you $16 for the Breather and their Lid is $130. Considering most Lids do the same thing, I think that's a deal.

don't think paper flows better. paper will stop more contaminants from entering intake. paper is less porous than k&n (at least when brand new). that's why the k&n will flow more air. much more porous than paper. as far as the k&n's ability to supply clean air to the intake, i don't know for sure. all i can say is that i've had a k&n on my car for 60k miles, and never seen small grit, dirt, or sand particles in the MAF or throttle body. also, some people will say that you will get oil on your MAF sensors, but i've never had that happen. just don't over-oil the k&n and you'll be fine.

as far as not fitting right, (maybe i got one from a good batch) just make sure you take your time putting the gasket on right and it WILL seal properly.

just my opinion, but i'm sure i'll get flamed. i'm still waiting on empirical data to back up all these claims that say paper flows better than k&n. haven't seen any yet (cos it doesn't exist).
