Airbox front clips

The front clips on my air box after I installed my Whisper lid keep popping a loose. Does anybody else have this problem? What did you do?

I hook mine on the little ridge that the hook would normally go over. It cuts into the lid a little bit, but it's better than the lid coming off.

The clips usually do fit pretty tightly on the whisper lids but it should stay closed. That happened to me too untilI firgured out I was doing it wrong.

One the front part of the lid where the lid meets the air box: the corners just sit on the air box and the middle parts tucks into the air box.

I also CANT get mine to stay on. I think my bellow is to long or something cause it keeps pushing the lid off. Right now though the lid wont even stay on if it was on right becuase one of the clips FELL OFF.

Some say this will result in a loss of HP becuase the air is just escaping from the sides.

Interesting! I spent over an hour trying to make mine fit exactly right on Sat because of this! I eventually gave up and used little cable ties through the plastic hinge area on the lower airbox looped around the clip. Just hold it close and zip it. I used very small ones and you cannot even see the little black line unless you know what to look for.

I was thinking of doing that with zip ties or something but I dunno. What about if I took my bellow off and cut it a little bit so it wouldent be applying so much pressure?

When I fist installed mine I had the same problem, but then realized I wasn't pushing the lid back far enough. The front of the lid should sit on the tray and not hang down in front of it. If that doesn't fix it then I don't know what to tell you.

I've tried to shift it and reposition it but it keeps doing the same thing.

Mine would pop open until I did this too, it may seem a little snug but you must force the front part into the airbox.

I had a similar issue with my Lid when I first installed it and it just didnt seem to fit correctly, however once I broke it in and use it for a couple of weeks it now slides perfectly in. So if you just got it and havent broken it in just wait a little while. However, if in a month it still doesnt fit then you definitely have issues and it might be a defective Lid because it should be a perfect fit.

send it back and get an slp lid. try putting the whole assembly (bottom and top ) together off the car and then bolt the base and lid ***. with the bellows and map sensor on together

I've had it more than a month. Thing is I bought it used from a guy and can't really give it back.

I tried something different this time. i turned the tray that holds the filter around where the holds in the base are at the MAF end. Now the lid seems to fit a little more snug. I'll see how long the clips stay locked this time.
